Caution: Cardano Fake Wallet (ADA) Marketed on Discord

Investors in Cardano (ADA) should be on the lookout for a fake wallet that aims to imitate the official wallet – Daedalus.

A Reddit user has delineated a fake website trying to copy and even promise more features than Cardano’s (ADA) Verified Wallet – Daedalus. However, the impersonator has a slightly different URL address.

The user, using the Reddit Tjaaark identifier, posted today, August 13th that a “Daedalus’ fake website is being marketed on Discord”. He advised users to be cautious as the copycat had some notable differences from the one verified.

For example, the one marketed on Discord has a URL address that ends with “.um”. In contrast, the original version ends with “.io.”

Named after an architect and artisan of Greek mythology, Daedalus serves as a “secure wallet for ADA cryptocurrency“.
The fake, marketed as an update to the verified version, comes with an identical website, perfectly mirroring the official one.

However, it also promises more features, including the ability to convert digital assets into fiat currencies, improved speeds and more robust performance.

Cardano and its native cryptocurrency have been among the most popular projects in the digital asset space for the past year or so. Founder Charles Hoskinson has promised to provide more details on the long-awaited launch of the smart contract today, August 13th.

Perhaps due to hype, the ADA has risen 50% in the past seven days. It rose 15% on a 24-hour scale and previously topped $2 for the first time since mid-May.

This growing popularity, however, seems to have caught the attention of bad actors. Consequently, investors should be especially cautious about where they store their ADA tokens.
