So far, we have written about how Elon Musk influences the cryptocurrency market. It turns out, however, that his life partner, artist Grimes, is also starting to use the benefits of blockchain. On Sunday she unveiled her digital art collection entitled “WarNymph”. On its sale has already earned over $ 5.8 million.

Sales of non-fungible tokens (NFT) have increased over the past few weeks. They act as a unique type of digital asset. Most often they represent the rights to a given work of art (e.g. song or picture). In some cases, they have already sold for millions of dollars apiece, creating a new type of art market worth more than $ 100 million.
Now 10 NFT Grimes have been sold for $ 5.8 million in less than 20 minutes. The singer announced the auction on Twitter.

Grimes has sold her artworks on the NFT Nifty Gateway trading platform. The collection was created in collaboration with her brother, Mac Boucher, who has collaborated with her on previous projects.
The graphic shown in the post shows a child with wings in space. Some of the works are said to have been inspired by the music of Grimes.
The title WarNymph is the child he represents “The state of infinite infancy, in which he sheds his old skin of corruption” and “Fights against the destructive power of outdated ideas and systemic decay that threatens the future.”
The singer plans to donate some of the income to Carbon 180, a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing carbon emissions.
It is worth adding that this is not the end of Grimes’s new business. Her current NFT collection is one of many that she plans to sell soon. She has already admitted that as part of the project she is creating a mythical universe called Oth3rkin. The character of WarNymph will evolve and be shown in new forms in the next installments of the series.
But Grimes is primarily a singer. In August 2014, Pitchfork magazine placed her single “Oblivion” at the top of its list of “200 best songs of the decade so far (2010-2014)”. In October 2019, the song was ranked second on the list of “200 best songs of 2010.” As Wikipedia adds, “The artist’s next albums, ie Visions, Art Angels and Miss Anthropocene, were awarded the elite” Best New Album / Music “award by the magazine.
The singer may be considered one of the pioneers, but at the same time she is not the first artist to earn money from the NFT. For example, in February, graphic artist Chris Torres sold the NFT “Nyan Cat” for nearly $ 600,000.
Digital tokens representing works of art are becoming part of an increasingly exclusive market. Musicians and graphic designers increasingly use this type of tool to quickly sell the rights to their products.
