Many cryptocurrency investors have been convinced for years that mining pays off only in the case of farms in China or Iran and investments of millions. Poznań company GamerHash decided to deal with this myth by creating a “Beast”, a computer for playing with the best components, which is to finance itself by mining cryptocurrencies.
The experiment is to show whether we will be able to finance professional equipment by digging within a maximum of one year. The computer is also to be used for playing games and normal work. This is the case of the Beast, because the computer sits in GamerHash’s office and is used for various tasks. The PC was used, for example, by the famous CS: GO player Filip “NEO” Kubski during the CS: GO Blockchain Tournament!
What cryptocurrencies does the Beast?
As part of the mining experiment, the GamerHash application was used, which allows you to mine the most profitable cryptocurrencies at the moment. They are then converted to BTC. To ensure the best performance, thanks to the GamerHash application, we mine 2 cryptocurrencies at once – one from the GPU and the other from the CPU. Beast additionally earns thanks to the GamerHash bonuses described previously on by about 20% more than the competition in the GamerCoin (GHX) cryptocurrency.
How much does a dream computer cost and what does it consist of?
To create the Beast, GamerHash used the best components, in particular the RTX 3090 graphics card and the AMD Ryzen 9 processor. One of the problems was waiting for the ordered graphics card, but it was worth it – playing, for example in Cyberpunk 2077 with the highest 4K details and Ray Tracing, is impressive .
The amount of earnings with the GamerHash application is no less impressive, where the monthly earnings at the peak were over $ 1000!
Here is the list of components (prices as of January 2021):
- NVIDIA EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 ULTRA GAMING 24GB GDDR6X: PLN 10,059.00
- AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, 3.4GHz, 64 MB: PLN 4,000.00
- Be quiet! PC power supply Dark Power Pro P11 850W 80 Plus Platinum: PLN 999.00
- RAM DDR4 G.SKILL 16GB (2x8GB) 4000MHz CL18 TridentZ RGB x2: PLN 1478.00
- Samsung 1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe 970 PRO SSD: PLN 1,179.00
- Socket AM4 ASUS ROG STRIX B550-E GAMING motherboard: PLN 999.00
- NZXT Kraken Z73 RGB 3x120m CPU cooler: PLN 1399.00
- Computer case Cooler Master Mastercase H500M ARGB: PLN 946.04
How much can the Beast earn?
As part of the experiment, GamerHash wanted to see if the Beast would “earn itself” within 12 months. Updates are to take place every 3 months. During the first period of the experiment, the performance of the PCta was much better than expected. Earnings in BTC and GHX were high due to rising cryptocurrency prices as well as ETH network congestion that made miners earn more.
Due to the volatility of the market, we will present the results of the Beast in two ways: how the earnings look like HODL by mining the cryptocurrencies and checking what the performance would be if we exchanged BTC and GHX for USDT every 3 months. Time for results!
The experiment began on February 10. During the first 3 months, i.e. until May 10, the Beast dug 0.01458435 BTC ($ 739.5) and 1,064.14 GHX ($ 612.5), which is about PLN 4,939 in total. Unfortunately, due to the recent market ones, the same cryptocurrencies are now worth around $ 655. This is still a great result for The Beast, however, it is a valuable lesson – how volatile the cryptocurrency market can be and how important profit taking is.
After 3 months of work, Beast from GamerHash financed itself at 23.45%, taking into account BTC and GHX prices from that period. This means that one of the most expensive computer components, the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, 3.4GHz, 64MB has already paid off.
It is worth noting that after the 12-month digging period, the value of the Beast will not decrease significantly, as all equipment has a 3- to 5-year warranty. Mining with GamerHash or video rendering has no effect on this period. In order for the research of the Beast to be complete, at the end of the experiment (after 12 months) we will check the value of using components in the Beast.
Either way, the RTX 3090 graphics card installed in Beast is worth more at the moment than it was when it was purchased at the beginning of the year!
Is it possible to finance your PC with GamerHash? After three months it seems possible, but we will only be sure after the end of the experiment. Another article from the GamerHash Beast series will be available in 3 months!
PS. When considering the profits from crypto mining, let’s not forget that this is one of the best gaming equipment in the world and what fun we can achieve while playing 🙂
