XRP holders using Ledger wallets are being targeted for phishing attacks

XRP and other crypto properties stored in Ledger wallets are under attack

Cryptocurrency scammers are trying to leak personal data from Ledger wallet users by sending text messages on their phones with a false warning that their wallet has been disabled. Ledger has officially confirmed that this is a phishing scam.

The anonymous Twitter user “My Precious XRP” tweeted who received a text message allegedly from the Ledger hardware wallet support team.

The sender requests that the user of the wallet pass the identity verification due to the introduction of new KYC rules (“know your customer”).

Ledger is working to prevent the coup

The user “My Precious XRP” addressed this issue of Ledger on Twitter, asking if this is official or a scam. Ledger confirmed that this is a phishing scam attempt and reminded the community to never share the 24-word recovery phrase with anyone.

The portfolio team also assured the community that it is doing its best to prevent this scam and prevent similar ones from occurring in the future.

A user called “bumgees” posted a similar post on Redditasking for clarification. Ledger’s innovation leader and co-founder confirmed that this was a phishing scam.

XRP is among the countless digital assets that Ledger stores, along with Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Monero, LINK, TRX and others.
